So the other day I brought Jake to the park for a walk instead of our usual routine. He was very interested (and intimidated) by all the sights and sounds. The Giant truck that went by plowing the ice off the parkinglot. YIKES! That was loud and big and Jake ran behind me, then in front of me, then firmly between my legs facing away, he didn't want to see that thing! Okay, well how about a duck or two Jake? They flew overhead making their honking sounds and Jake planted himself firmly on the ground and wouldn't move and inch as he watched them. Hmmmmm, I think he may have liked them, after all...they were very far away. The couple walking through the park, Um...he gave me that "please mommy, let's not meet them today" as he planted himself on my FOOT. Okay, not the bravest pup in the world, but he is working on it. We think Jake had a very hard start to life with people who were less than kind, until he got rescued, we think he didn't have socialization. We are working on that too. Today we brought Jake to petco, where he met other dogs, people and even saw some kitties. He had kids run up to him, babies grab his fur and other puppies (LARGE yellow lab pup) almost pounce him he was so excited to see Jake....Jake was GREAT! He took it all in, a little afraid once or twice, but mostly with tail wagging. Yipee Jake! Here are some photos of our walk:
He is learning that Mommy always wants a picture of him, so he might as well just go along with it!
Tomorrow is SOUPerbowl Sunday at church. The students will be collecting money in a soup bowl to give to a community program. They are so excited when the see the dollar bills adding up in the bowl. They love to help people in need. To learn more just click here: SouperBowl
